Private video foundation

Mike Brown Video

A public front door for a future private video hub, keeping the promise simple while the technical choices for access and media delivery are still ahead.

A placeholder with purpose: public enough to exist, restrained enough to avoid premature media decisions.

Scope

Define the promise before building the library

The site can be attractive now without pretending the private app exists. The first job is to set expectations and preserve a clean base for the future system.

01

Private archive

A future place for friends-and-family videos that should not live on a public social platform.

02

Simple viewing

The eventual experience should make watching easy for invited people, especially on phones, tablets, and living-room screens.

03

Durable organization

Collections, dates, descriptions, and permissions matter more than flashy interface work.

Principles

Private media needs careful infrastructure

Video is heavier than the other sites. It involves storage, bandwidth, identity, permissions, and family-friendly usability. That work should be designed intentionally after the static site is stable.

Privacy comes first

Authentication, access rules, and media storage need a deliberate design before any private files are uploaded.

Use managed video infrastructure

Live streaming and VOD should lean on a proven service such as Cloudflare Stream or another managed workflow.

Keep the public page modest

Until private access exists, the public site should explain the intent without pretending the video library is ready.

Roadmap

From public page to private video app

Now: static foundation

The domain is live with a clean public page and a repo ready for future work.

Next: architecture decision

Choose storage, identity, access control, and media delivery before building upload or playback features.

Later: private library

Add authenticated viewing, organized collections, and eventually live or VOD workflows.
